Not my Morning- Caught a Raccoon, Make that Two

Con gratz on catching that coon. If you caught one another one will take its place so keep your trap set!

I'm sorry for the losses and am glad you caught one of the culprits.

But...

If you're leaving out food for cats, you're going to attract raccoons & opossums that might not otherwise venture into your yard. Once they're close by, they'll also be tempted to catch themselves a fresh chicken dinner.

We try to keep food out only during the day on the deck, the stray has disappeared so I won't be feeding it.

That is the plan tonight, because the same night this one was caught another one was on the deck.

Keep in mind that raccoons are opportunists, and won't stay nocturnal once they learn there are easy meals to be had during the day. If raccoons continue to be frequent visitors, you might want to eliminate things that could attract them at any hour of the day. Feed the cats when someone can directly monitor them while they eat, and remove any uneaten food afterwards.

I wish you success with your hunt.
