Not new to chickens... but new...

Welcome to Backyard Chickens. As a lifelong dog lover would really enjoy seeing a photo of a heelernees.
Day one after we first brought them home white girls name is Skye and brown boys name is Zuma, my son named them after Paw Patrol... (only 1 pic of our oldest dog is included here but he’s actually a Heeler/Coyote mix)

he looks more like a Corgi than a Pyrenees...

She’s a hog for attention... He’s a hog for food...

As you’ll see white isn’t a great color for a Heeler:

But Zuma is always about those morning cuddles...

hope you enjoyed meeting my Great Heelernees pups.

Nope... though they do shed like a Pyrenees though... they have a medium/medium long coat... also we have a Persian cat but as the pic included here shows he’s currently shaved after he escaped and got himself matted down with burrs and prickers... you can tell where the majority of them were since we tried to go slow and pick them out... but it just didn’t work...

We ended up being able to leave his tail for the most part intact but every other square inch of him is now shaved... mind you I’m not a animal groomer and actually used my buzzers to do this soooo...

Got one side done by 13:15 today.

Got the other side done by 16:00 with the wife’s help (I couldn’t get under the trailer to attach the hardware cloth).

Guess this technically makes it a fly pen... it’s the roof.

Sandwiched the hardware cloth on the bottom between 2 2x4s so the chickens won’t cut their feet on the sharp edges.

Used 4 6” lugs to hold the run to the trailer.

They have “free roam” of the room but they still stick around the brooder (I have 1/2 cinders around the outside so they can get back in if they jump out) the paint can in the back is filled with water to hold up a mirror to block the carpeted closet)

Noticed some of the chicks are already starting to grow combs (not sure if this helps sex or age them but 🤷‍♂️ If you know let me know because even the guy I got them off didn’t know when they hatched)

Fed them a treat of dry oatmeal (saw that it helps with pasty butt and one of my chicks had it so figured I’d nip it in the bud) and they all passed out together (I know they aren’t cold since they aren’t under the heat lamp and they aren’t hot since they aren’t on the far end)
