Not newbie, but need advice...

Baby chicks or ducklings can't mix with adult chickens as they'll pick on them relentlessly until around the same size. I just do chickens so that's all I know about that, but there's lots of advice I see above! Good luck!

I have separate nighttime coops for my chickens and my ducks, but they share a 3000 sq foot play yard during the daytime.
all my ducks are females all my chickens also females

Same here. Different coops within the same fenced area. Also only have females of both. I kept the ducks completely separated from the chickens until they were trained to go into their own coop at night, then I let them see the chickens on the other side of the fence for a few days, then I connected the chickens' and ducks' day pens together and now they get along fine.

I agree with the others. If it's at all possible, separate pens is best.
