Not Pasty Butt, But What?

Could it possibly be a benign tumor? I would think a prolapse would be soft, not rock hard?

I have no clue. But she's (assuming that she is female), going to be tagged as a cull.

I refuse to breed forward any known issues unless there is some extremely good reason.

Having been so ill, I forgot to update this. When I checked butts again a couple days later it was gone. She's 100% fine and I have not idea what it was.

I had one chick (in my vast experience of one hatch) that had the same thing. I assumed that it was like an "outie" belly button since that chick had a tiny bit of yolk sac attached at hatch. The sac dried up and fell off, but the bump persisted for a few days.

This was at the vent, not the naval.

It looked and felt like bone.

If I'd been well I'd have found a means of isolating her so that I could watch her progress. Then I could have retrieved the whatever it was and analyzed it more thoroughly after it feel off. But I wasn't and had to just let her take her chance.

She's perfectly healthy so I guess it can't have been serious. :D

I know this is a bit late and I'm not the most experienced one here... but I actually had a human medical issue that this reminds me of.
A small abscess on my back that felt hard as a rock. I was confused as to what could feel so hard and was planning to consult my doctor.
Not very long after discovery, it... (I can't find a non disgusting word)...
well, it went away like it had never been there.
Any little break in the skin could allow bacteria in.
The advice for humans is to keep a close eye on the problem area because they may reoccur in the same spot and after that have a high chance of becoming chronic.
Anywho, I just wanted to put that out there. So much TMI.
