Not really an emergency, but I am wondering something.....

I have a buff orp that still has quite a few feathers missing on her back....the size of the palm of my hand. Looks like new feathers coming in, but it's going to start to get REAL cold here quick. Will she be okay? They have a nice coup and plenty of food, but I don't use heaters or anything like that. The coup is bedded thickly (and cleaned regularly).....no drafts in the coup either....but I'm worried.

Can I do anything to help keep her warm? She is not acting cold yet, but I want to know if there is anything I can do to help before she does get cold.

Thank you.

It is probably just from over mating. Do you have a rooster? She will be just fine and they will grow back if you can separate her from the rooster (assuming you have one

) or you could put a saddle on her. This will keep her warm as well. If you do a search on here for saddle you will come up with a wonderful pattern for making your own out of fleece or some members sew them and sell them too! Good luck
