Not so smart snake...(Pic)

Quote:
StaPuff had been sitting on it for quite awhile (overnight, apparently) and I suspect the snake just figured whoohoo, free meal. I'm doing alot of snake research at this time as we've had 4 of them in a 3 week time period. I know it's illegal to kill certain snakes in TN, if not all, but I have alot more research to do and good answers aren't easy to find for this state.

Mainly because I want the Blacksnakes to keep the mice, Rattlesnakes and Copperheads at bay, which they do a great job of. That and I personally like snakes.

Dawn

Dawn you sound like me. We have a kingsnake almost 6' long that comes down off the ridge behind the house and suns himself in the yard. The neighbor on either side of me and across the street have rattlesnake problems...I have never seen one in this yard or on the 2.5 acres we are on.

First time my DH saw him he ran inside and got his gun and I stopped him with that LOOK and said "Where do you think you are going?" :| To kill that huge snake...see and he is pointing and I said "Oh no you're not".

hahahahaha

Snake still lives here. My girls are still inside but their coop and run with be 'snake proofed'.

Poor snakey...he's not gonna have a good end...

The golfball won't crush down and he won't be able to regurgitate it...

Because StaPuff(love the name LOL) was sitting on it, it was warm and Dippy the snake thought it was an egg and then because it was warm they stayed...

When we first moved in here 15 years ago, we had 6 foot Garters, but something was eating them...so we only have teeny ones now...2-3 footers.

BTW, I used to think that snakes were icky too, until I started to work with them...I had a pair of Saharan Sand Boas that loved to crawl from my hand down my shirt and out my pants leg...very strange sensation...LOL

I agree w/Dorothy. I would have had a heart attack right then and there! Snakes are my biggest fear. I'm totally petrified of them. Even the pic made my toes curl.

(we need a throwing up smilie guy)LOL

So, if a snake gets in the coop a chicken will actally sit on it!!! EWWWWW! Would the snake ever hurt a grown chicken?

It's a shame you didn't realize it had eaten the golf ball before you released it.

We had some people bring in a 6 ft black snake to the vet office I worked for. I kept feeling a large bulge, and we wondered if it was a tumor, but it didn't "feel" right. The other vet tech and I decided it was an egg (the vet could care less...he was scared of a lot of animals

) so we decided to remove it. The snake was very cooperative, and we worked it up til it came out. It was a wooden chicken egg that the people had put in there to kill the snakes. He ended up doing really well and ate like a pig after we had removed it! We released him in the woods, away from any chickens.

Glad that you released them, though. So many people see a snake and just kill it. My MIL is overrun with rats and copperheads, because they keep killing the speckled kingsnakes!

There is not another snake that looks like a speckled kingsnake!! It is obvious what they are. I got so mad at hearing her complain about the rats, that I told her that's what she deserved for killing all the kingsnakes. She thought that was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard. Whatever.

Hope the remaining snake stays away from your place. I can't believe the chicken was sitting on it! Crazy bird! LOL!
