Hello all!
I wasn't sure where exactly to put this thread, but I thought this might be the best choice.
I have four beautiful golden sexlink hens. They appear to be happy and healthy. Especially when Mommy has a little scratch...
However, I read yesterday that a truly healthy hen has a red, waxy looking comb. All four ladies have great red combs, but, they aren't "waxy/almost moist" looking. They look dry. Like someone with chronically dry hands. Are they missing an important nutrient? I provide plenty of water and food. They are on an egg-laying feed as one of them just started laying eggs last weekend, and they will get some scratch and occassional greens while free-roaming our yard during the day.
Is it possible they are just this way or am I missing something I need to be doing? (I don't think any of them would hold still for a pure coconut oil rub.... well, one might..... but, she's doll anyhow.)
Thank you!
