Not sure how everything works

Welcome to the flock. You introduced yourself on the correct thread, and I think everything you have said is very interesting. You don't talk too much. Once you start reading on the other threads you will see lots of people posting over and over because they like to talk too . That's why chicken folks gravitate toward BYC. They can talk chickens all they want.

There are also some social type threads where people talk about other things besides birds and they are very popular too.

If you go to "where am I, where are you," in the social forum, you can locate and post on your state thread. You may very well find some chickeners close enough to become good friends with.

I among, several others, am a new members greeter - so I get to talk a lot too. You can become a greeter also - while you are learning about chickens - you can just say "welcome" or comment on their pictures etc. As you learn more, you can give advice as well.

Thanks for the info. We're in Oregon and worried about fires right now-- even here in Western Oregon where we always complain about the rain.

I'll check that thread you recommended.

Frindrizzle:

Thanks for the welcome--this is a great site. I hope you aren't in danger from the fires in your state. We are in Western Oregon and somebody had an illegal burn that got out of control so we were on standby to evacuate. Did not know how I would be able to gather all my chickens or even where we would go with all of our animals. It was scary. It is so hard for all the people in burn or flood areas this year with animals. Can't imagine.

We didn't have to evacuate.

Sherry

See my reply I sent to myself by mistake--just learning how the site works. Anyway, I should have sent it to Frindizzle not Frindrizzle. Guess I'm thinking too much about wanting rain.

Nope, we have no saying about having to evacuate, I think we are far enough away.

I am glad you did not have to evacuate! But think, many other chickens probably get burned alive.

Great, now I think of it, I can not get it out of my head.

Frindizzle, not Frindrizzle - I know, it is hard to spell:)
