My turkey hen just died today. She had been sick for about a month (drowsy, loss of appetite, yellow diarrhea poops) I wasn't sure what was wrong with her however, this was my first time owning a turkey hen and she was kept with several other chickens. I knew there were risks to keeping them together but thought it would be fine. I thought it might have been coccidiosis so I had been giving her some treatment for about 2 weeks - no improvement. I'm very sad and feel very guilty but wondering what I can do next time to identify the disease and treat it better or prevent it from happening?

Yellow excrement is a sign of blackhead.

If you have blackhead present, do not keep turkeys with chickens or on ground the chickens have been on for the past 3 years.

Chickens can carry blackhead and it can be a death sentence for turkeys.
