I’m currently incubating 6 duck eggs, they are on day 21 today! I candled them yesterday and didn’t see one of them moving, I know movement and veining gets difficult to see at this stage, I checked on it again tonight and still can’t seem to see movement. I’m struggling to see veining, I think I can see some little ones but Im not sure the other are a lot stronger. I’m just unsure wether they are just disappearing or it’s just because it’s getting dark inside the egg. This egg is also smaller than the others and has a smaller air cell. Is there any way I can tell for definite that it’s dead as I’m scared to remove it just incase it isn’t.

How is your hatch going?
The rest of the eggs seem to be doing ok, iv managed to see definite movement in the other 5 eggs but still non in the 6th which is making me think it’s dead, the eggs it a fair bit smaller than all the other and it’s pretty dark so can’t see much in it anymore. Am I best to just remove it now or should I just keep it in incase, will it affect the other if I leave it in and it is dead?

Just keep it, to be sure and ducklings are known for being lazy so....

I’d leave it in there for a bit longer just in case, how are the other eggs?
The other eggs seem to be doing ok, can still see them all moving. Although some of the eggs look more developed than others so you know of this is normal. Also should the egg be completely black by the time they are hatching as one still has quite a bit of a clear gap underneath.

Yes it should be completely black, if the egg that has a clear gap needs help hatching don't help it, that just means it's not quit ready to hatch. Sometimes it just take a bit longer than the others
