So last few times it’s rained I have found grass near my duck pen matted down. It was in one spot at first

Then the next time it rained I found the same spot matted down and a smaller one next to it.

Today, after it rained last night, I found a bunch of matted down spots all around my pen.

I only find them when it rains. And in no other places in the yard other than my pen. Don’t see any tracks, but the ground is fairly firm there and and the grass thick. The pen has hardware cloth and chicken wire skirted out up to 6 feet out from it at the bottom. Hardware cloth all around the bottom 5 feet of the pen and chicken wire around the top parts that skirts down a bit and you can see in one of the pictures it’s turned up like something was leaning against the pen

Nothing has gotten into the pen. the ground inside the pen is fairly soft and I check it for tracks every morning to make sure nothing got in

Could it be the grass is just heavy with rain and falling over? That happens with tall grass. Or possibly the run off is knocking it over?
That’s what we thought at first but the grass had gotten tal all over the yard (we have the only patch of land in Alabama with barely any clay and everywhere except that patch around the pen gets super soft every time it rains and the mower sinks to ground level.)

And some of it was on the backside where there is no run off. It started with just one patch. The next time it was 2. There were 8 distinct crushed areas when I went out this morning.

Will have to get a camera and set it up and see if something is going on. Ducks don’t seem scared in the morning thankfully
