Hi! Ive got a young hen that is a mystery to me. She is completely black! Even her comb is a light shade of black. Can anyone help with her breed?

There are a couple of breeds that are all black. A Swedish breed and one called Ayam Cemani. I know the later one is totally black, even the meat. The females lay black eggs as well. They are quite expensive. Did you hatch it or did you buy it as a chick?

I thought Cemanis lay white eggs? I thought the black egg thing was just a market ploy? :0

I bought the hen as a chick at Tractor Supply so I doubt it’s a Cemani unless it accidentally got in the wrong box at the hatchery. She is the exact same size as my Australorp hens but her coloring is so much darker 🤷‍♀️

She is very pretty. Would be nice to see a photo of her in the sunlight. As far as I can see even her eyes are black. So beautiful.
