I've had this peking mix for a little over a year now and we've always been sure he's a male but now i'm not sure. Recently, we have found him sitting on eggs (not sure if he laid them, some of the female ducks lay in weird, hidden places and we don't find them until later) and he's been quacking at us like the broody females do. however, he doesn't sit on his batch like the females do.
I have seen him mating with the females, but i saw somewhere that female ducks do that for dominance sometimes. His tail feather is curled enough that you can tell that it's not flat but its not nearly as prominent as other drakes. I dont think there are any qualified vets nearby to sex him and i'm not qualified to do it myself. I dont want to hurt him. Are there any ways to tell for sure?
