I have a Golden laced bantam cochin hen thats around 3 years old now. I got rid of her mate at the fair in August and since then shes been with her son. Her son is apparently too aggressive for her, because when hes inside, she will NOT come down off the perch. I failed to notice the way she was acting and have recently discovered that she wont even come down to eat while hes inside. Its starting to get cold here and the other day i noticed that she was shaking horribly!! It wasnt even THAT cold outside and she was just up there on the perch just shaking like crazy. Seeing how shes acting now, im afraid im going to have to get rid of her, because i highly doubt she'll make it through the winter if she stays in the barn. There is just no way i can bring her in the house. I guess what im getting at is that i think im going to have to give her away to someone that can provide a warmer climate for her. She's a wonderful girl, and has hatched two chicks herself. This is very hard for me to do but i just cant bare to make her suffer.
Wow, never thought i would actually cry over one of my chickens
so does anyone think they can help me? She needs a home. I was hoping to find someone who actually does allow chickens in the house. lol
