Not sure what to do????

I don't know if the float test is in this section or not but I know I saw it for late eggs hatching think it was under the quail section. But its in a sticky. I plan on doing that when the time comes

I remember when I first started hatching eggs, I waited and stressed over them. Had bad results a few times, since then I just put em in the bator, add a little water every 2 days or so and on the 18th day take em out and put in another bator for "lockdown". I noticed some eggs will rock, some wont, some pip and you wait for what seems like an eternity, and then hatch. Some pip and zip and come right out. It is trial and error and when you find out whats best for you and your environment, you will have great luck. A lot depends on the eggs too, if they were shipped and the conditions. I keep my eggs at an optimal temp if I am going to ship till I have the order complete. I used to "help" chicks when I felt they were in need during hatching. I rarely do that anymore only because I found that the natural process of hatching is tough on the baby but something they need to do. Sometimes if they are not strong enough, or something is wrong with them, they dont need to hatch. Its a call you have to make. Good luck though, I'm sure you will have good results next time.

Have you checked the bator temp? It could just be too low.

You can pick up the eggs and hold them to your ear. You will hear a faint tapping inside the egg. If you scratch the egg gently with your finger this can sometimes encourage a pip from them.

I generally wait a week after the hatch date before I toss eggs.

Do Not crack an egg open to help unless you notice a peck hole in the egg. It you notice that a chick is not making progress wait at least 8 hours before you crack. If you crack an egg too early the chick will die anyway. Just wait. the yolk sack must have been absorbed before you crack to keep the chick safe.

After a week you can crack the eggs to see when they went bad or if they were even fertile.

Can someone tell me what i should do in this case i just brought a broody today by mistake may i add lolol she seemed fine at the auction then oh my goodness when i picked up the box she didnt half let me know it.

I have 2 lots of eggs in my bators definate fertile this time lol to lockdown 30th oct and 2 nov.

If i wanted her to hatch them how do i introduce the eggs too her i popped her in a cat carrier with a blanket over and thought i would just throw in some shop brought eggs but she made a nest but i cant see her sitting them. i dont want to risk putting my eggs in till i am sure shes up to the job any ideas to get her to adopt some eggs?

I had the same troubles with my incubators i had 36 eggs in total after a 120 deg temp swing took out a few then i found 11 out of a 12 set infertile. the rest seem ok a few i think are blood spot but i have at least 15 good ones. I did the throw away a baby too it was soo dark in the shell everyone said they thought it was dead and after reading of the exploders i removed and cracked it. I could see th eye and body it wasnt beating but it was all there. so now i havent touched nothing else. i have a awful cold too so cant smell a thing so thats not helping either. I see lovely little moving birds in at least 3 eggs some are a little dark. my one and only frizzle egg is infertile but i have had it in 10 days cause i just want it to start doing something lol wishful thinking. I have just silkies in there at the moment.

my humidity is causing me a problem so have brought a bigger pan today. more area and thought a few soaked tampax infront of the fans might help nearer the time any ideas on that lol i have hanging space up but not below lol

I am also worried about theidea of moving incubators when its lockdown etc is this wise? as i have diy setups should i make one just for hatching in i had a game getting this to temp lol

ALSO my turner is a tilter so when i take them out to hatch is it ok to then place them on there side? after they have been upright? I have 3 batches in there and need to try to seperate them so as they grow i know hows related to who lol i didnt think that thru at the beginning but if i could infact make a temp lock down hatcher i could incorporate this into the design. ~Let me know what you all use if you do a seperate lockdown bator.
sorry i feel like im commandeering your thread lol too many questions?
