not sure where to begin with this...

She weighs around 1.6lbs? From what I understand a chicken needs to drink a minimum of 5% of it's body weight per day. That means 23 ml of water per pound per day.
So for your girl that would be 36.8 ml a day, so I think you are doing o.k. with the fluids:)

If she drank 100ml then that would account for some loose stools. Electrolytes may also be contributing. I would try to push her to eat, maybe some wet feed with some scrambled egg.

As for treating with the Coxoid - yes, stop the B vitamins and Electrolytes, but continue with the Vitamin E.

Thank you for this, it does reassure me now about her drinking. I read about 500ml for a chicken and then i assumed it would be less for a bantam but this was before i weighed her and of course like you said it would depend on her weight. I feel much better now, i just wish she would do the drinking when i could see her, i wouldnt worry so much then :)

No vitamin E is okay to give. Thiamine (vitamin B1) is not given during treatment with amprollium (Coxoid) because amprollium mimics thiamine to kill the coccidia organism. If the Coxoid is liquid form, you can give a drop of undiluted Coxoid twice a day orally to jumpstart the dosage.

Thank you. Yes the coxoid is in liquid form, ill post a picture in a bit. Would i be able to do the whole treatment this way do you think?

No, I would put it in the water as well. Coxoid (amprollium) is for putting into the water for the right dosage. It is harmless if the others drink it, and if you need to use a small waterer, you can use less for a liter waterer. Just divide the dosage by 4.

Hi eggcessive, so ive given her 1 undiluted drop of the coxoid tonight by mouth and ive also put it in the water container as well according to the dosage.

Should i as well tomorrow give the '1 undiluted drop twice a day' as your said before to kick start the dosage as i only managed to do 1 undiluted drop today?
or just leave her to hopefully drink it herself from the water container.

thanks

also i have my other chickens (only 2) out the back should i treat them with the coxoid as well as they had all been living with each other or wait for them to show symptoms? They havent shown any yet.

Ive just started to worm those chickens, wormer in the pellet type. If i do coxoid them as well shall i wait until after the worming is done?

sorry for more questions, i just dont want the others to get ill as well.

Hi everyone, thought i would keep you updated in case anyone in the future finds the thread.
She is now a lot better, ive finished the cooxid treatment and she doesnt have any more diarrhea. Shes eating and drinking herself, i havent weighed her again yet, ill do that tonight.

Ive been giving her time outside as well and shes been scratching and dust bathing so thats a good sign. I did let the other two chickens out when she was in the garden. One chicken was fine with her but the other one puffed up and attacked her pulling some of her feathers out.

What is the best way to get her back living with the others now?
I have two chickens out the back garden that she used to live with before i brought her in when she got sick.

The two out the back live in a coop with an attached walk in run. There is room in the run for me to put the crate i have been using in the house for the chicken.
Should i put her in this crate in the run so the others can see her but not fight?

Where should i put her at night time?
i dont have another coop and i dont want to leave her in the crate in the run exposed to the weather and any predators. Should i put her in the coop with the others at night or should i put her in an animal crate in my shed at night and bring her out early and put here in the crate in the run before i let the two other chickens out?

thanks for any advice.

Thank you for the update!
I'm glad that she is doing much better:)

Yes, a crate in the run is one way to re-integrate. There will generally still be some pecking/chasing until they get it all worked out. How big is the coop? I would try putting her in the coop each night and see how it goes, let her sleep with them, then if need be re-cage her during the day or cage the worst offender inside the run and let her with the more docile one. Sometimes you have to change things up on them.
