Not sure where to find out...

I have searched all over the internet and I still don't know if my chickens are legal. We have had them since April, and nothing has been said (so far)...we live in a subdivision, but there is not a neighborhood association or anything.

If anyone can help, we live in Ringgold, GA (Catoosa County)...NOT in Ringgold city limits...but not exactly "out in the country" either. Like I said, a subdivision. BUT, on the back side of the subdivision a family has some ducks that run all about.

if you have a Town or City Hall, you can call them up and they will tell you everything you want to know about the Laws in your area...That is what I have always done

i had roosters and hens in a sub division before the neighbors didnt say nothin.... i think they was afraid to my dog would kill there cats.

I am not following the municode on this one..hard to understand whether they are talking about churches or residential properties. Ah I think I understand it now..keeping poultry is a "conditional use" what conditions I wonder?

But wouldn't that ALLOW chickens? That one strikes me as "general farming" except raising livestock or poultry shall not be permitted... like corn or hay fields (??) That one's written funny...

I envy some of the people here that have codes that DON'T have legalese dripping off them, or that don't talk in circles & have 15 places to look to verify one or the other, or the other

I live in Catoosa County Georgia also.

That cannot pertain to Catoosa County since I am surrounded by families that raise chickens with roosters. I almost had to start raising them in defense.

Another issue will probably arise when they do their seemingly biannual fly over taking pictures to make sure we haven't built a new building that they are required to tax me for.

I imagine it is the same anywhere anymore. They may even be using drones for all we know.

I suppose I will call the county and inquire about raising chickens. But I will not use my phone.

I'm in Catoosa county and was wanting to start keeping ducks. Called county zoning office and they said NO because I'm in R-1 zone.
