I did a swap with someone and the eggs arrived from across the country from where I live, I promptly put them in the incubator. Still air Little Giant, no egg turner. I let them sit for about 24 hours, more maybe but not less.

I candled them and found they all had floating air sacks. Out of 27 eggs received 10 made it to lockdown. I added some of my own eggs to fill the incubator but marked them differently so I could tell them apart. When I found the swapped eggs all had floating air sacks I moved them into the other LG with a fan and egg turner so they could sit more upright. At lockdown, I turned off the egg turner and left them sit.

They are due to hatch tomorrow but started hatching yesterday. The one that hatched yesterday was from my eggs and it didn't absorb the yolk and died. I found 3 hatched this morning and don't know which ones came from which shells. One was from my eggs and the other two from the swap. One still has the yolk attached but I don't think it's going to make it. The other 2 look fine.

One more has hatched and this is the one I am posting about. It came from the swapped eggs and although the baby looks healthy, it has a bald back of the head and neck. I am wondering if the feathers will show up later?

Mhhm what breed are the eggs that you swapped my guess would be naked neck it's quite unusual for a chick to hatch with the egg sac unabsorbed make sure that you are not helping them hatch or rushing them as this will just lead to complications
Good Luck

It's supposed to be an Ameraucana. I don't know if she has NNs. No, no helping them but now I am so worried about the rest of them. Maybe taking the time to go to full term tomorrow will save some. Ever since I started hatching eggs this year they have hatched early so I wasn't surprised but this is the first time they were born un-ready for the world.

Hmm well I hope your little ones make it can you post a pic of them when they dry off and are fluffy maybe send a pic of them once they are dry too the people you bought them from and ask why they are like that fingers crossed for tomorrow
Good luck

I sent her a PM and asked if she has NN but haven't received an answer yet. Now, I think I have to assume she does because a blonde little baby hatched that has the same hair cut. I don't mean to insult anyone but I don't find the NNs attractive at all and didn't want any. After my experience with shipped eggs, I won't ship these babies off anywhere so I hope I come to love them.LOL

Haha Yes.hope fully you do maybe she got your order mixed up with someone else's and sent you the wrong eggs you could maybe ask for your money back or another shipment of the right eggs

No, it looks like I MIGHT get 7 babies out of 27 eggs she sent me. I don't want to risk more little lives to floating air sacks. We did a swap, not money. I sent her duck eggs but haven't heard back how well her hatch did. Yet.

My NN creeped me out at first but now they are my favorite. They are so sweet and gentle and seem to be more tame even without constant handling.
