Hi everyone so just a little bit ago I had a skunk getting in my coop every night and taking all the eggs and I did not take the eggs away cuz I thought if I did it might eat my chickens, so it's been a while and nothing's gotten in, but know one of my hens are broody and last night something got in and all of my broodys eggs are gone :hit:he so know what do I do I mean do I trap it again do I not put any eggs in there how do I keep things away I can't put wire under my coop so what should I do :(

Line your enclosure with hardware cloth (it's made of metal, sturdy, about 1/8 inch square holes) and just zip tie it up. Put about an inch underneath and at least 1 ft up the side.
It's easily cut with garden clippers, or tin snips (best choice) and will keep anything from rats to coyotes out.
A friend of mine taught me to do it, and he showed me where the coyotes forced through his other coops, before he put the stuff up.
Just make sure the hardware cloth is *outside* the coop, not in, or predators will push it in and eventually move it out of their way.

Why can't you put wire? It doesn't have to go under but can to be bolted into. Electric fence?

Do you have snakes? I would think any other predator would prefer chicken over eggs.

Pictures would be good

There has been one snake but we killed it and what ever it is is digging holes, and I thought it would rather have chicken too but it just left my broody and ate her eggs and I don't want to take the eggs away cuz I fill like it will eat my chickens if I do
