If they are just day old chicks then yes, they need some sort of heat source (lamp, plate, pad) since you'll be brooding outside I suggest either the pad or plate since it lowers the risk of fire.Hi everyone! I am planning on getting some baby chicks next week. Where I live (central california) it will be high 80s low 60s. Would I be able to raise the chicks outside? Do they still need a heat lamp? What would be the best way? Thanks in advance
No matter where you brood them they need a heat source. If you have a predator proof coop that can give them heat then outside would be fine.Should I brood them in my garage? or do you think it would be okay if they are outside?
