I ordered chicks from the Hatchery then picked them up at the local Hardware store The whole transaction was disappointing since I ordered and paid for 24 red sex link pullets and 6 leghorn pullets What I got was 22 sexlink and 5 leghorns plus 1? First instead of leaving them in the marked container, individual orders came in separate boxes, (some genius put all the chicks in a brooder,) they called when the order came in and I told them I was on the way it took all of 15 min to get to the store, they felt that it was too stressful to leave them in the clearly marked boxes, the chicks were packed less than 8 hours before. Due to the pandemic the hatchery where I buy my chicks 40 miles away is closed to the public, the post office was closed to in office pick ups so this was the alternative, I then had to rely on this person to gather up the chicks I bought out of the bin and I'm afraid not only couldnt they count to 30, but mixed breeds as well. Some of the sex links have suspiciously thick legs at 5 weeks def Cornish in appearance the ? has black legs, something I noticed at about 3 weeks of age. The body is solid white no black spots, I thought Austra at first but also has no comb growth so thinking it is going to be a rose comb eventually, thought Americauna but this chick is larger than Americaunas I've raised in the past and so far doesnt appear to have whiskers as of yet. So out of the 28 chicks I brought home its anyone's guess what is what, I'm sure there are a couple of cockerel included in my pullet priced flock.
