Not what I was told.

Yes the feathers they're getting are mostly white. I knew they'd be white when I got them. I just wasn't expecting them to have grey on them, too. And sorry I'm not sure what you mean by "smut".

Those do NOT have rose combs of the Wyandotte. Now, I realize that some Wyandottes, especially the hatchery types, end up with singles because I had one of those, but those don't seem to be Wyandotte chicks to me. They honestly look like they have single combs, or most of them do.

Click on those photos, guys, and look at those spiky single combs.

I was wondering about the combs too, but couldn't be dead sure viewing pics on a cell.

When I say "smut" I mean anomalous variations in feather color; feathers that don't match, so to speak. They look pretty uniform.

And Hi SpeckledHen! How's things in GA?

Hi there, you old curmudgeon! I was surprised to see your screen name after all this time. We're doing just peachy down here! Hope you're well.

This is smut, all the blackish sketchy markings in the wing feathers of this Delaware pullet chick. In fact, those look sort of like Delaware chicks, but then, many yellow chicks look similar, even as they begin to feather in.

And in this group of Delaware cockerels, you see smut down the middle of the backs in varying degrees, though it's clearing out as they mature.

Thanks Cyn for clarifying the "smut" thing with pictures.
Since yours don't appear to have much if any, they will probably be good and white. I don't have experience with rose or pea comb development, but those look pretty sharp and single-ish.

Here are some pictures from today. They're about a month old now.

Hmmmmm... That's some very white skin. I'd say light Sussex except for those wonky combs. Might just be a cross.
