I really hoped my community would have allowed back yard chickens, but they don't. Apparently, we have to have more acreage in order to raise even a few chickens. I am heartbroken. I wanted to thank you all for welcoming me to the site and to everyone who has put together this great treasure trove of information about chickens.

Take care,

Gina

Welcome to BYC! I'm sorry to hear about that. I think that one way or another you can convince them. Try the "Where am I? Where are you?" forums to get together some people in your area. There is power in numbers!

This reminds me of a funny story. A few months ago we looked at a house for sale 3 houses away from my uncle (we wanted to be close). The house was wrecked (like no air vents, just a hole in the ceiling, and no light switch covers) There were a several animals in the house, but when we went out back, there was a huge white turkey waddling around in a pen! The Realtor freaked out, by the way. I felt sorry for her. According to my uncle, this is definitely not allowed, but it didn't surprise him. Whenever we talk to our Realtor now, she refers to that house as the house that comes with Thanksgiving dinner.
