You know it's true love when the big Argument du Jour is about coop building.

I told hubby I needed help building a roof over the duck's night pen. I told him what I wanted and he ignored me and did it his way. The first big wind storm it blew off and ended up in the neighbor's yard. I then sketched out what I wanted for the rebuild and went and got more materials. He ignored me and did it his way. It blew off again. The third time I didn't say squat and he did it his way again but at least it stayed on this time

If I finally feel the need to rebuild, I will invite some girlfriends over, get a few bottles of wine and we will do it my way.

Ha!! we went through that last summer, over the exact same things....it ended up the exact same way as yours did. lol....Its definitely a learning process ahahaha.

Well....from the other side of the fence....I designed, drew the plans, and built our home. My DW seems to want to put in her 2 cents on stuff like this, but doesn't know what she is talking about! The chickens were my idea, I researched everything, including coup stuff. When it came time to build it I only needed helping hands not helping minds!

Also, worthy of noting is that chicken coups can take a long time to build. Most of us here are not building basic structures because we love our chickens so much. Though these structures are small, many have all the same features that go into building a house. I myself usually overbuild because I want it be strong and last....which means it costs more and takes longer to build.

So cut yer man some slack and give him the time to "git-r-done"!

I know better than to try to talk to my DH (AND my FIL) when they are working on fixing something or building something.

I get scowls...that look like they are saying- "This is no place for a woman. Get thee hence."
