My wife photographed a strange new bird we had never seen before. We live in the Rio Grande Valley which is a birders paradise in the US. We are thinking this is someones escaped pet though as it really looks like a budgie or parakeet. It isn't unusual to see parrots around here or painted buntings we get almost everything from south and central america around here.

Maybe he isn't an escapee, maybe he's out on parole for good behavior.
Well it found a good neighborhood. We rarely freeze and always keep chicken scratch in the feeder! It is amazing the birds that brings in, have you ever seen a green jay? I love our green Jays in Dallas I only saw them in the zoo's.

I know that is what any yankee would say, but living this far south sometimes you just have to wonder. My local birder support group say the same thing. But occasionally we catch the rarest species on film.It was amazing how excited people got over a moth 2 years ago we photographed.

The parakeets are native to AUSTRALIA, although they are a good flyers don't think the could fly the distance , and the wild type coloring is green the others, yellows white and blues are domesticated .

I've never seen a green jay. Do you have a photo? Be fun to see.
