Nothing yet. Day 21

Jenny -

No chicks at all ???

The only thing that was a little off was the temp, and that shouldnt of killed them just delayed them !!!!

usally they say to turn 3 or more times a day, not sure if that would of killed them !!!! maybe made them stick.

I can update now.
I am embarrassed to say that it was because of my actions in part. When I was talking to my dh we were going over what happened. I had forgotten that we had two power outages during the incubation process. The first one was only for about half and hour, but the second one lasted two hours. I watched the temps and they never went down. I was getting ready to hook up in the inverter when the power came back on. I bet the temp dropped a couple of hours after the power came on. It never dawned on me at that time that this could happen.
I checked all the babies by cracking the eggs open. They were mostly in the same stage of development except for one Mille who was the one that peeped. She was the only fully developed one and she never made it out.
I feel really bummed that I wasn't smarter than that. I have been stressed anyway about other things and this just tops it off. What a pity party I am having for myself...

Anyway, we are done hatching because it's going to be cold here soon. Thankfully one of the kind ladies from this board lives near me and shared 2 buff orps and 3 silkies who are helping take my mind off this.

eta I am going back to turning them 3x a day instead of 2x as well.

hmmmmm, I'm not 100% sure that the power outages would of caused them to die !!!! i've read alot on here about the power going out and most still have OK hatches. The first power outage you had for the 1/2 hour should of made no difference at all, hens leave the nest for about that time usally once a day, so thats no big deal. the other for 2 hours you said that the temp didnt drop much, i dunno. what day did it look like the eggs quit on ? What day did you crack them open and look ? were they dry inside ? do a seach on her about power outages I think you will find alot of info, ive only had 1 power outage thats when my last 2 eggs were hatching i tryed to cover it with a towel but then the humitidy went way up to 90 so i warmed 2 potatos up in the oven (gas) and put them in for heat, a short while after that the lights went back on and the last 2 were fine !!!!! I dont remember if I asked you before, were these your eggs or shipped eggs (sorry if i allready asked)

These eggs were not shipped. They were from a friend of my husbands. Jeepers, as far was what day it looks like they quit.. I don't know. The chicks were not blobs, but were not developed much either. If you moved tissue around you could tell they were chicks, but they didn't have feet or obviously feathers. I would say maybe they quit around a week and a half into it. I thought it would be from the power outage because this is about amount of time into the hatch when the power went out. They weren't dry inside either. The membranes weren't even dried out.
I don't know what in the world went wrong.
