I have trained several of them. I love the breed, from the four i have handled. all have been nice dogs.

I have never heard of the breed, they sure are pretty dogs though.

Has anyone kept this breed while owning backyard chickens? This is a breed I'd like to have but not sure how well they'd get along. Perhaps if it was raised with them as a pup but not sure if eventually instinct would take over and I'd be a struggle keeping it away from the hens. Thanks.

Being an uncommon breed, your best way to get information would not be here. It would be by speaking to (responsible) breeders of the breed. It is probable that people who live in a rural area with the dogs might also keep chickens, and know how they interact with poultry. You also need to be willing to invest the time, training, and keen supervision with the dog until it is deemed trustworthy. Any puppy of every breed is going to have an awesome time playing with the squeaky, running, flappy thing, by the way, so you must keep this from happening.
