Thanks I will. Just to finish this off, the three under the hen hatched on day 21 and all healthy but the other 4 in the incubator still have not pipped and it is day 23. Still seeing movement in shell so hanging tight.

This is an old thread I know but I wanted to update - My chicks hatched on november 18th are now laying eggs! Well one of two are anyhow. When I get home i will post pictures of them.

my welsummer chick who hatched with an open navel:

but was oh so adorable

healed and grew up into this lovely pullet:

she laid her first egg at 20 weeks, hers are the ones in front on the counter.
in the green egg carton were laid by black copper marans

today! the large BCM hen in the middle laid her 1st egg at 18 weeks! she is the bcm chick above with the blue legband.

My second pullet started laying two days after the other one. Her very first egg was a double yolker I believe (haven't cracked it open). They are the green eggs in the carton - the darker green is from the black/red hen.
