November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

I almost took off work today to stay home and watch the incubater lol but I decided I better go to work . I ran home on my luch break and they still looked the same . Hopefully when I get off work I will have6 pips or at least a few more .

You have more self control than I do! LOL
I never thought I would be happy to be unemployed. ;)

Way more self control than me. I'd be useless at work if I had eggs due to hatch lol or at least that's how I would justify it to myself!

I have a chick and another one piping ! How long does it take a chick to dry off in the incubater?

That is a good question. Seems as mine a couple weeks ago took 4 hours or so. It depends on humidity, temperature and is there a fan to move the air.

No fan and the humidity is like 76% - he is drying somewhat now but I can't wait untill he/she is a little yellow fluff ball lol

Honestly, I've found that they dry out faster and fluffier under the brooder light. I have been leaving mine in the bator for hours, but they don't truly fluff up nice until they've been in the brooder a while. From now on when I incubate, I'm going to lesson the bator time as long as it doesn't interfere with the hatch.

I thought you were not supposed to open the bater if others have piped? I was worried I would hurt the other eggs if I got the chick out? This is my very first hatching so I have a lot to learn. Is it ok to leave him in the bater overnight ?

as far as I know they should be fine in the bator for 24 hours so overnight should be fine.
