November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

I'm guessing that moving an incubator 30 minutes in a car under lockdown would be a bad idea???? I'm off tomorrow (incubator is at clinic) and no external pip yet. Trying to decide if I should bring everything home with me. I could wrap it in towels...

@Antiquity. I had a chick like this too, she rested like that for a day until another chick hatched then she was up and dragging the shell around for another eight hours. She's just fine now! The thick red cord is the umbilical most likely. Your doing good, hang in there!

I sure hope Little Peeper comes out OK. His twin egg is due to begin the process tonight. I'm hoping for a quick hatch so that the new peeper can encourage this poor little guy. Thank you for the support and hope. :)

As an update, Little Peeper and I had a date in the bathroom. The little thing is very vigorous, but obviously tired and feeling miserable. He opened his eyes and peeped at me in protest. I was able to remove the last of the shell around where the air cell was (by his knees, the little stinker.) His old washcloth was starting to smell a little stinky

, so he got a nice clean one. He's still alive. At this point I'm just going to keep him warm and moist and let him hang out. He's got an egg basket to himself, and when he's all tucked in with his cloth, it looks like a tiny crib.

If it were me... >_> I'd do it. But then I'm reckless like that.

If there are no pips, it's probably ok. Just don't let them overheat at this stage. Or jiggle too much. It's a toss up between risking the loss of a few or possibly missing the hatch.

It's only two... And really only seen movement from one...mutt eggs from Mr flock that u used as practice. First hatch ever...

I'm doing it.... Update soon

My final count was 4 of the 5 eggs that went to lock-down. I am considering myself very lucky considering the Day 20 disaster. 1 egg did not pip and I did not do an eggtopsy.

So finally I have 4.
1 Legbar
2 x CL x Red Star Hybrids
1 x CL x RIR Hybrid

Here is a picture of all 4 together

Super Cute! So glad you had a good hatch.

Do you have (or can you get) a cig-lighter plug adapter to plug it into for the drive?

We were back up to temp within two hours...humidity never dropped. Little guy was still moving when I set everything back(had egg in a soft bowl in bator for ride) other egg still nothing. Thankful I have buddies on standby

Yay! Little Peeper has kicked himself off of the last bit of his shell. He's still attached by a bit of membrane/egg white/whatever, but yay anyway! His twin egg has dark shadows at the high point of it's air cell indicating that it's moving into position to pip internally. I'm so gosh darn excited I can't even, I don't know what, shucks.
