November hatch along, anyone?

Pics
Thank you for the encouragement.
It’s my first time doing this and my broody’s first time also.
She’s only about 6-7 months old.
The egg she’s sitting on is from my 8 month old Naked Neck pullet.
Normally I wouldn’t have tried to hatch an egg from such a young bird but Pippin went broody on Halloween and I thought letting her set a couple of chicks would be the best way to “break” her lol.

Tt is allot fun letting our own birds hatch them isn't it

We have a baby!!! :ya:wee

It’s a little Naked Neck just like the parents, Angus and Emily.
Pippin, my bantam Cochin, is doing a great job.
I picked her up this morning to see how the egg was and there was a chick all dry and cute and tiny and amazing!:love

Congratulations, I am so glad that you have a baby chick, it can be so nerve wracking when they are late but you got rewarded with a beautiful little peeper!!

I currently have 14 hatched today and 4-5 more pipped so I am going to be swimming in baby peepers soon

When are you guys planning to put your chicks outside without heat? Is the first week of January about right?

My chicks will be in a non insulated shed/kennel with a MHP and maybe a heat lamp depending on weather ( in Ontario so it can get quite cold) but I will start introducing them to outside slowly depending on the weather and then they should be OK outside on their own when they are fully feathered. Like chickens in the fall it is best to get them usecto the cold slowly instead of going straight from a warm heated area to the cold
