Nope they are still around. Saw two last night.

I did research the local trapping laws thought. I realized that I have to look it up myself if I want a reliable answer. Trapping in Maine is illegal with out a licence UNLESS it is 1. Your property - Check - 2. Your property is used for agricultural purposes -Check-. Chickens and veggie gardens take care of that. WHOO HOO. I can another tactic to my list of ways to get a fox. SOOOO...... I set a snare in the turkey pen seeing why I don't have any turkeys any more thanks to the foxes. Thanks Patman75 for suggesting it. I rigged the door to the pen so it is the only way in and put the snare right there so they would have to go thru it to get that nice big juicy chicken leg (store bought, no one of mine).

I do admit I am having a hard time seeing thru the peep on my bow at night. During the day my vision is amazing thanks to the new superhero contacts. But at night my eyes have a hard time adjusting. Tonight DH can help with the hunt which is a bonus cause he can see in the dark way better than I can.

I know I said I am anxious but I am even MORE stubborn so yes, I will be at it again tonight.

Add a laser to your bow for night time shots. It doesn't take a expensive one for night shooting. The daytime lasers get pricey though.

Locking those chickens in for good will be great revenge. That fox will come around every night now and try to get in. How frustrating for it if it can't!

I lost all my chickens to a fox, too. I have 6 replacements now, but it was an awful morning to find the original bunch all dead and gone from one night!!!

DH made the chicken Fort Knox. There is wire mesh surrounding the whole thing. Even under the shingles on the roof. When I lock them up at night I put sheep fencing around the whole shabang for added protection. That is why we didn't know we had a fox problem until I put the turkeys in a less than perfect pen. The foxes seem to be more active a of late. Screaming that horrendous cry back and forth. Bold as all heck. Is it mating season for them, hummm, I'll have to look that up.
