Now I Am Mad !!!!!!

I shot two coons in traps this morning. I put the 22LR to the mesh opening nearest the head and fire...they are usually dead in less than 5-10 seconds. I have taken a few wires out in a couple of the traps but it doesn't hurt the efficiency of the traps as badly as the coons so. One of them is about 15 years old and still going strong. I bought two more last weekend (total of 5 now) because the wild critters are so bad this year with the drought. Good luck with your fox. I did catch one in a larger have-a-heart a few years back. Sardines make excellent bait (oil packed)!

This is the way to pretty much ensure that a raccoon will visit you in time. If he is trapping them often, they are around in numbers.

I'd like to humbly suggest you plan for the worst.

Not one fox. I can't believe it. I didn't see one fox last night. Now am going to get some shut eye before I rip someones head off.....................

Time to fall back and regroup.

I guess I should have said if I ever get one in my trap! They are definitely around, I see them in the tree by the window staring into my indoor fish pond all the time. I've just never had a problem with them and my birds. If they start to become a problem, I will deal with them. It's been 9 years and no probs, but there is always a first time! If I get one in my trap accidentally while trying for my ground squirrels, I will have to decide what to do then.

good luck with your efforts. be careful with your arrows- if your not shooting into a backstop you can bend you aluminum arrows and crack your carbon ones. Alums will just fly funny, but damaged carbon arrows can break and hurt you nasty when you shoot them. I usually look over my arrows and run my hand down the length of them every so often to assure there not damaged- regularly but not frequently when just shooting, but each time one goes along the ground, (goes completely through an old target and skids along the ground behind it for instance). Those I check over really good. Good luck. Keystonepaul

Yeah, I figured that out, lol.

I am done practicing. Time for the real thing. Lets hope tonight goes better than last night. Not only were there NO foxes, it was cold. 47 deg. Yup, welcome to Maine and the summer that NEVER was. I just want a little satisfaction, like...... a taxidermied fox chicken feed holder, you know like those cheesy butler tray holders. HEE HEE.

When you finally get the fox, I have to see a picture!

I don't have anything to recommend from experience, since I've never seen a fox in our neighborhood, but I think someone on this forum once suggested a hot dog coated in some kind of poison. Otherwise, shoot it good!

ugh, when a coyote got our only SSH roo, our prized gorgeous boy, I wanted revenge SOOOOO BAD. but I was thinking either the handgun on the shelf or a trap and a LAKE. BUT could u trap and shoot it? if you were careful about the bullet? I agree, it's inhumane to use an air gun even up close, they aren't powerful enough.

My DH says that I am not thinking like a predator, I am too anxious and that is why I haven't been successful with these foxes.

Think like a predator.......????

I agree I am anxious. I am a redhead what do you expect. I want it NOW!!! The little girl in me is throwing the BIGGEST tantrum right now. It has been a week. I want that fox!!

Gonna go try to think like a predator.
