Now I'm confused.....!!???

Don't bump the eggs!!??

LOL. I try not to. But I do have to turn these by hand. I'm sort of klutsy!! lol. but been trying to do it softly but fast si I don't leave the door open too long. Even though when I do open the door the temp and humidity goes backup pretty fast. So thats a good thing. Duck eggs are on day 2. Chicken eggs on day 1. I assume the saddle shape is where there sort of on the side and irregular shaped.

don't spin them too fast!.. it's better to take your time and be gentle and slowly turn them than to worry about a few minutes of cool air. So take your time.. get them turned and then close the bator back up

Will do. Actually the guy who had this has like 300 chickens. He said he never turned them. He would put his had on top and just roll them back and forth. I'm not but if you think about it, the hen is not turning over each egg 3-5x a day. When she gets back in and sits, shes doing the rolling thing with her butt. I have watched them do this. I have marked eggs underneath them and they don't move a lot.

she's also doing that 96+ times a day! .. yeah someone actually did a study on it

when I "turn" eggs I do not flip them over and over in the same direction.. after all they are not hot dogs on a griddle

If X is on the top... the first time I turn them I will turn them to the RIGHT a half turn so the X is on the bottom.. then when I turn them again I turn them LEFT s the X is back on the top.. next time they are turned it's to the LEFT again so the X is back on the bottom..
The next time they go to the RIGHT (X back on top) .. and then RIGHT again so the X is back on the bottom. (I turn mine 5 times a day)

So in essence they are being rolled back and forth.. not over and over in the same direction every time

Lol.. at any given time (depending on the season) I have anywhere from:
6 to 75 turkeys
40 to 400 chickens
12 to 30 geese
12 to 50 muscovys
10 to 50 Pekin ducks
8 to 30 Cayugas
plus emus, quail, pigeons, parrots.....

and that's not counting eggs in the bators or chicks in the brooders or chicks, ducklings and goslings on order from hatcheries

That's awesome. The way I figure...are they all going to make it, probably not. Would be nice. And how hard can it really be. Watch the temp turn them. Lock them down. Kids in pre-school do it. Give me a break.

(That was suppose to be a joke). My wife thinks if I get 1 to hatch I did good.

I'm small scale compared to some of my relatives.. I have an Aunt and Uncle that hatch several thousands of eggs every month

and several other relatives who raise broilers in the big commercial broiler houses.

Actually i have a lot of trust and faith in my husband.. I know he's capable of doing anything he sets his mind to. Plus I have to love him since he puts up with me!
