Chuhauhaumom...Your using Mother natures deep snow as a weapon, when your irresponsibilty is to blame.
You knew that the snow was deep, you should have known better. Why didn't you put your dog on a chain or walked it? Instaed you just let it walk over the neighbors fence, using deep snow for an excuse, or was it an " Accident" This is why peoples poultry get killed, doing things as you do,without regard of the results of your action.
Thank God your not my neighbor...your way of thinking is scarey to me as a poultry raiser...!
All my neighbors have dogs, and keep them under control.I have more than 40 laying hens, and have never hads a problem with my neighbors dogs,why...? Because they take full responsibilty for their dogs actions and keep them contained, as they should.Don't blame nature or whatever for "accidents" that are caused by human error/judgement....I expect losses for wild nature, hawks, coons ,etc. Domestic animals are kept animals, only humans who own them are responsible for them, and i should not have to accept losses because you can't control or take care of your dog like you should. It's that simple.Anything that messes with my food supply i consider a direct threat to my families welfare, and i will fight and kill for that.I don't do chickens for fun, raising them is part of my survival lifestyle
You can think of me as you'd like, and call me anything but a good boy.No matter, i will protect whats mine.

Chihuahuamom, I am a chihuahua lover too and as much as I love them I would not abide by them destroying anothers property. They are inside dogs but we take them out to do their business. A few times I've turned my back on them to take care of a small task and when I looked up they were in the neighbors yard. He has a cattle dog that could dispatch the chihuahuas in a heartbeat. If it happens then its my fault. Period. Now if my neighbor shot them for simply being in his yard, then I would hate the neighbor for sure, but I would not say anything. I would simply wait for the day that his cattle dog was in my yard and exact my revenge. In my mind theres a big difference in an animal that simply wanders across the street and one that kills a chicken. I had a wonderful yellow lab one time. He dug out of his pen and my next door neighbor said the neighbor two doors down was hurting my dog. I walked over there and he had my dog cornered and was blasting him with a water hose. I simply said thats my dog and grabbed him by the collar and left. I was angry but I realized that my animal was on his property. I hate animal cruelty and never had any use for that guy. That being said, it was my fault for not having his pen secured better.
