LOL! I'm not so worried about skittish, as long as they don't go feral like the "Wylde Sisters" I used to have, (2 NHR hens who though they were my best foragers and mothers, were a challenge with the woods so close by! I had to hunt for their nest in the bushes to add extra eggs to them or else they'd have been the only bloodlines! The two brought huge clutches of chicks proudly back to the coop together, they were 'tag-team-mamas')

Thing is, I really want a mixed flock for variety (variety of both blood, health, attitudes and looks! I love vanilla, but only in rich yummy custards, bakery and ice-cream, not in my hens or my life in general).

The plan so far is to have only ONE breed of roosters, and a few pure-blood hens which I can seperate out and breed when I want them to produce pure-blood eggs. Possibly to show, sell and/or to share with other enthusiasts, so I thought I'd look for a breed that needs some support, either endangered or threatened, and to specialize a bit that way. Sort of to compliment the mixed flock.

Thanks for the suggestion though, and I really like your forum avatar Bawkadoodledoo! HE's a cutie!
