Depending on the hatchery, you could have a Midnight Marans- they're more of a production breed. Much more prolific that the 'purebred' Marans!

Hubby got them from rural king for our anniversary it was a double surprise for sure

It's likely a marans. Midnights are a mix, so lighter eggs, but more of them than if it's a pure bred marans. I have a splash copper marans that lays beautiful chocolate with speckles almost every day
