Just now I opened the brooder where I'm keeping the newly hatched Japs and their mom. Well, their mom freaked out, flew out of the brooder, and out of the coop. Crazy hen! [IMG] Should I wait and see if she comes back or just bring the babies in the house to brood them? I can hear her out side squawking but she takes off anytime I get near her and she won't even go back in the coop......

You know if she is that flighty I, personally, would take them into the house and raise them myself. Do what your gut tells you. They do not have to have a mother hen to raise them. You will do a great job and not lose any either. I would say go for it. I have taken some away when I had a problem with a mother hen and I have never lost one and she lost three.
