I scheduled the NPIP tester to come out Tuesday so I can finally get my certification. However, I have a serama mama sitting on some eggs that I’m hoping to hatch out. It’ll be a little over a week of sitting when the tester comes. I’m a little freaked out that the testing process will cause her to abandon her eggs. Is that likely? When the tester comes, should I move her off the nest before they get here so that she doesn’t panic on top of the eggs? She is not very nice to me when I touch her on the nest but she will move to go get food if I stand near the nest for very long.

Check with the NPIP tester now to see if he needs to test her. When I was last certified 15 years ago the gentleman only tested the rooster and a hen from each of my breeding pens versus doing the whole flock.

They said since this is an initial testing they must test every bird over 4 months.

You will have to catch each of your birds for the tester so I would leave her until it's test time.
