I just emailed the person that does the testing for NPIP in NY.

It also said that they do testing on waterfowl? Do they test them the same way as they test chickens?

I think they do a cloacal swab on waterfowl.

Do they check all of the waterfowl? I would think that they would only need to check around 50-60%. If one has it they probably all have it.

Quote:Not sure about NY, but in MO, the waterfowl are tested once (done the same as the galliformes, prick under the wing). Once the new duck/goose/swan is tested once, it doesn't have to get tested each year there after as in in the galliformes. Could be different in NY.
