The state is coming out next Thrusday to see my flock. He said that the whole flock will be tested. I will be at no cost to me. I am glad to know that there is something out there that does not cost $$$$$. I do not know how long it will be for the cultures to come back but at least in the mean time this will rule out something.

The test is done there in the field. It's an antigen test. If your bird is infected it will show up discolored, almost black looking.

The NPIP testing is Salmonella only, unless you're in a state that tests for more than that. Some do avian influenza also.

If the state performs the testing, usually the only fee involved is the cost of the certitification.

I will take what ever kind of test they do. The more things that are ruled out the better off I will be.

I do have cultures out on 4 birds. The WILL cost $$$ but I had to do it.
