What does NPIP stand for? I'm browsing ebay, looking for some hatching eggs and I keep seeing this acronym.

I hope this is the right thread... ^^;

It could stand for 'Never-Pee-In-Public'.

I just had the test done. A state flock tester comes to your house and tests your whole flock for Pullorum.

To get certified then your flock gets tested and must be negative for Pullorum.

Its like the test you have for showing your birds at the fair or at a show. just its your whole flock instead of just the few that you are showing.

you should only bring birds, chicks, eggs into your flock that are from a NPIP breeder after you are tested to make sure your birds and flock stays clean.

You can sell eggs, chicks, and birds after certification with a certificate that they are Pullorum Free. Just like a large hatchery that participates in the program.

Thanks so much for the info!

Dipsy, I laughed xD

Very good to know, and VERY glad I found out BEFORE buying!

How do they test them? Blood sample or swab? How long does it take for the procedure and the results? Any pullorom disease symptoms to make sure I don't fail?
