THAT tame needs to have Animal Control or whoever is in charge in your area involved. NEVER seen one that tame who didn't have rabies. You don't want to put a bullet in the head, you want to send the brain/head for testing.

Yeah, we were all a bit puzzled about how it was acting. It was far more interested in the eggs than us.

The traps are set, with ropes tied to them so we can drag it where we need to.

As for animal control, I've yet to reach anybody, and my calls haven't been returned. Game commission is next to worthless around here.

I'll post pics when we get it again. It's not a big one, maybe it's a desperate younger one, but either way, it's got to go.

Thanks again-
Em

I'd say to not use a method to kill that destroys the head. Drowning or CO from the tail pipe are the more common methods. Both of which are not recommended methods by AVMA. However, a bullet to the head destroys the head. DH's concern is more not for testing for rabies, but it is good if your area has a problem, but because of spraying of blood and brain matter could spread rabies to either humans or animals in the area.

I would be pretty worried too, that is awfully docile! They carry other things too, like distemper. Be careful what ever you choose, be sure no pets will come over to the area and "clean-up" after you. There may be a local vet clinic that knows who to contact and a better way to get a hold of someone. If the local control isn't worried enough to call, I would just dispose of the little guy. You might consider adding it to your next burn pile (if you do weed burning) It would probably help to eliminate any disease and won't sit in your trash can for a week, and no risk of it being dug up or smelling in you "back-40" later this summer or contaminating any underground water supplies.
Good luck, keep the vinegar close
