Yes to the getting attached ! This is only my second hatch. In both I’ve used my 360 and smaller Kebonnixs 12 egg and last hatch I had close to 42 eggs shipped from mainland and had only 13 hatch. This time I have 9 legbar (Creme and Opal) and only one looks viable. And 15 isbar and man those eggs are hardy shippers as 14 are growing!! But I too get super invested lol I sadly had one full term chick pass and I cried all dayI do the same! I figure if there is room in the incubator then there's no harm in trying! I have done entire experiments on hatching "undesirable" eggs. I just know it's easy to get attached when you start going out of your way to hatch the problem babies.
Hugs! I'm sorry that happened. It's always sad but it does get a little easier as you continue hatching chicks and realize it's a fact of hatching. Remember, most hens walk away from their nest with unhatched chicks as well. It's always exciting when you have a 100% hatch but it's also not super common, especially with shipped eggs. Late quitters are of course always the hardest. I wish you the best of luck with this hatch!
