Nutrena Country Feeds Layer Feed 16% Pellets For Feed

What do you think about this name brand? It's so cheap! I just want to make sure because my last feeds were like $32 and $58 for the 50lbs; whereas, this is only $12.50 for 50lbs! Newbe Here!

I recommend 20% protein.

Chickens need at least 18% protein in my honest opinion.

Here in the uk we have a terrible time getting decent food, most of them are 16% 😳 it’s outrageous. I ended up ordering fancy feed company breeder & show pellets at £17.99 for a 20kg bag. And they are still only 17.5%

Oh that is awful! Glad you were able to get slightly higher protein though. I am super grateful for our large variety of feed brands and nutrition levels!

I personally feed Purina Flock Raiser 20%.

Although it is possible to supplement protein, its definitely easier when it is in the feed.

And to get flock raiser here is like trying to buy gold dust, even on Amazon it says try a different post code, seller doesn’t ship to uk. You do have the best variety and nutritional levels. Even down to ingredients and protein, use by dates etc, it’s all very vague here.

edited to say I only found this 17.5% food thanks to @U_Stormcrow 😃 he knows so much about nutrition.

Nutrena is a good brand, although the Country line isn't available in my area. On their NatureWise line, the pellets tend to be more on the mini-pellet size, which my flock seems to like. I prefer Nutrena layer over Purina layer, but my local feed mill has the stuff my birds eat best. They do love the Meatbird crumbles from Nutrena, especially when molting!
