what you recommend I use for my feed mix, kelp or nutri-balancer? nutri-balancer contains some kelp so i would assume that it covers more vitamins but its also more expensive so i want to know which one you guys use (or both).

I guess it depends upon what the rest of the ration is. There are some things in that pre-mix that are added in addition to the kelp, like methionine. If they have access to pasture year round or are fed fish meal the methionine may not be an issue. There are also a number of pro-biotics in Nutri-Balancer that you don't get with kelp meal.

well here is the ration I have been feeding my birds -
25lbs. boss
50 lbs. scratch grains
5lbs. whole flax seed
4lbs. alfalfa meal
2 lbs. bone meal
4lbs. fish meal
2lbs. grit
2lbs oyster shells
1 lbs. yeast
3 lbs. kelp (maybe I will switch to 2lbs nutri-balancer)
2 lbs. garlic powder
2lbs. de
they do have access to pasture except for in the winter
Im running low on my fish meal, de and kelp, all of which the feed store does not sell. Anyone know of a place online that sells all 3 of these for a low pice and that will ship?

A very old post, I know. Just curious...are you still feeding this recipe? If not, how have you changed it and why? I'm dabbling with making my own mixes. Thanks!
