How many birds are you trying to give it too?
I'm asking because if you're not going to use a gallon of water in 24 hours or less then it's better to make a smaller amount.

Depends on age of birds. How old are they .

That rate is for up to week old.

1 to 4 days old 4 ounces per gallon of water 5 to 14 days old 2 ounces per gallon 2 to 4 weeks old 1 ounce per gallon 4 to 6 weeks old 1/2 ounce per gallon 6 weeks plus 1/4 ounce per gallon. And yes it should be changed each day so you only want to mix what they will drink in that time. Just need to adjust rate for amount of water your going to use.

I use plastic measuring cup from Nyquil bottle it is a 30 ml cup 30ml = 1ounce it goes down to 15ml , 10ml , 7.5ml, 5ml so you can mix as little as you need. Hope this helps you any questions don't be afraid to ask will help if I can.
