NY chicken lover!!!!

Are the plastic t-posts the step in plastic posts? They come in white or black with a metal spike on the bottom, cost around $2.50 and have molded in clips.

This may be information overkill, but at least there are some pictures to get you started.
Thanks guys! Yes, they are the plastic step in posts. I will use those for one run, since I didn't get the extenders yet and the metal tposts holding up that run I think will be too large. I'll go get the extenders today. The thing at TSC said you needed like three ground poles per fence, and at $15 each that would be almost an extra $100 (decided to set up two separate chargers). I am hoping that refers to a larger fencing area? I'll PM you if I have a question since I don't want to take up the whole thread. :P

ETA: OK, I was an idiot and tried to trap the fox. And who did I get? My resident neighborhood skunk. Ugh. So now I have to figure out how to let him loose without smelling skunky all day. I managed to go toss a tarp over the cage - he did spray but just got the tarp, thankfully. Have to let him out of there before it gets too hot, obviously. And no, don't want to kill him - we've lived in harmony for a while. Any other tips besides goggles and a raincoat? :)

Well at least you caught something! Is there a wildlife removal person? Around here there are people who are certified to remove wild animals that people don't want around. I can't remember the right title...probably come to me in the shower or some other place...I had one remove a bat for me when I lived in Suracuse. That house sometimes got bats that would get into the living quarters and fly around silently at night, and gave me some Lucille Ball moments.

If you just let your skunk out, you will probably catch him every night.

Nah, I just let him out. He's been here for years. I had a baby skunk in a trap last year and NO ONE would take it without $150. I tried everyone, even my pet sitter that is a wildlife rehabber. Everyone thought I was nuts. Finally had to let it loose and make sure it could not get back in the coop. I am sure I'll catch the silly thing again tomorrow unless I can find something he doesn't want to eat but foxes like. Good thing is I read that the skunk stink can remove the human stink from the cage, so might be better for catching something else.

I think I'll put the trap out of his usual range. maybe that will work.

Good luck catching the fox...maybe I can borrow your trap when you do.

I just shot a red fox this am. My girls let me know she was here. Good girls.
Can you come to my house pretty please? :)

I decided to hatch out a few eggs - hoping to get a few NN babies to replace those I have lost. So if anyone needs mutt chicks in a few weeks let me know! Too bad no one local has NN eggs - I am down to four hens, so my chances of getting NN babies are small since I don't know which eggs they lay for sure. There's a place in woodstock that sells them but that's too far away. I also would like to hatch out leghorns, but my rooster and my leghorns don't see eye to eye. :P

Reminder of the Poultry show at the Syracuse Fairgrounds Sunday, June 3rd. 9 to 3pm. approx.

There will be birds for sale at the show. Show entry is free. Also they have raffles & contests.

I'll have for sale, White Orpingtons, Coronation Susses, Lavendar Orpingtons and possibly a Marans or 2...

Look me up at the Marans Chicken Club, USA Egg show table, usually set up next to the center waterfowl area.

Summer season is beginning. Let the madness begin!
I've barely had the time to read much less post lately! My whole weekend is booked solid like most weekends this whole summer.

We had something get one of our ducks this week. Whatever it was it only ate the breast off her with no other visible damage and didn't carry her away. Trav is guessing that maybe a coon would do that.
If anyone else is going to the show in syracuse on sunday we'll see you there.
Best wishes to everyone!
