SNIP... Just bought more grower/finisher for the reds and its 1499 a bag. I only get Poulan from the local feed store.

I bought a 25# bag of starter/grower this morning from Agway (their brand)...$9.71.
Last month it was $8 and something.

Hey Everyone! Had my first 2 eggs this am. One blue and one brown egg! Felt like I found a $100 on floor. My 3 1/2 year old was so happy but dropped the blue egg on floor was upset but she cant wait to go what she called "easter egg" hunting again!

Had to share this with people who would understand!

Kamir--I tried agways feed and wasnt impressed. My cheeps didnt like it either. Poulan seems to work well for me.

Tractor Supply is close to me so I go there for feed. OUCH!! $14.99 for 50 pounds. I may have to investigate some other places, once the pick up is running again and make the drive 3 - 4 times a year, instead of stopping every other week for feed.

I use agway since they will deliver to me. So I order 10 bags at a time + a few other things and it just shows up neatly stacked in my garage. I think it was 13.25 for layer and 14 something for starter/grower the last time I ordered, which was about a month ago.

Would love to use a local feed mill, but the closest I know about is in amsterdam and without a truck, the trip just isn't worth it.

Java - I paid $20 for them as chicks so I'd want at least that much. I'm not sure about the swap, I'll have to see how far it is.

Heni - I can not find a decent pair of clogs to wear to the coop. I know TSC has them and I did buy a pair but Lord have mercy if they didn't wear out in a couple of months. Not to mention they were expensive.

Pharm - I was at TSC this AM and Dumor is up $1 from the last time I bought it. Guess they're not waiting to raise prices. I did buy some cracked corn too. No more scratch it's to expensive for a few oats.
What breeds have you got. Keep in mind that non hybrids (the heritage breeds) need more protein and most feeds have only 16%. I had the Dels and some older girls on Dumor 16% but was dumping 20% crumbles on the ground for some chicks and my older frizzle started eating it and is laying now. Frenchy hadn't laid an egg in over a year. I was buying Agway Egg producer with 21% but stopped when it went up to $14.99. But my BR's production dropped off too. I hate to raise my price again.

Adora - maybe your RIR , felt it's brain being sucked out by the Silky. Even as chicks they are dangerous. I brought back Silky eggs in my carry on from AL and I was the only one not acting weird. I had a tin foil lining inside my ball cap. One good thing though was I got extra soda and peanuts from the Stewardess.

Glass where did you get your RIR's?

LOL!!!! Maybe my RIR did feel the supreme alien mind power of the silkie and she got nervous.

Don't get me wrong, RIR is sweet and chatty too, but not so much with the chicks. You can actually see her completely change when I bring them out into the baby pen.

lol, it's called goat ropin music! And it makes me angry. Seriously, hearing country music puts me in a miserable mood. And they play it WAY TOO LOUD! Just say NO to goat ropin music!

Do you have a Blue Seal Feeds near you? They have a rewards program. Every 250 point you recieve $10 off your next purchase. Once a month they send out email coupons. Usually $5 to $10 off any purchase as well as specils only for members. And IMHO it is the best feed. All of my chickens and ducks prefer it to the other brands. And it doesn't have all the god forsaken dust the other brands make you pay for.

rain? What is that? it has been at least a month since it did more than spit on us here. Everytime the weather guessers tell us it will rain, it doesn't here

hasn't rained here either, Stoney. Rains to the north of us, then to the south, but doesn,t quite make it here.
