So after an hour and a half of work-the rain interuption, the 2 boys are cooling their heals in the reception room (aka the fridge) while waiting for entry into freezer camp. Quiet, quick and done. The terrorists seemed to have calmed down a bit and are a bit more relaxed. We shall see what happens as the week progresses.

Arwin(my lone silkie chick) seems to be doing okay in with the boys. I watched them for a bit to see what the interaction was like. I think the main problem is that Arwin doesnt know she is a chicken and is scared of everything, especially the boys. I havent seen any aggression on their part towards her other than an occasional peck. She is so bonded to me that I feel that I have to leave her out with them for her own good. I am hoping that if the weekend goes well, she will stay permanently with them.

Getting real humid out. Stay cool everyone.

If we had enough interest we could pick up a ton for cheaper.  The feed store lady told us that if we bought a ton she would sell it 50 cents a bag cheaper.  Any interested parties?  I would want to call her soon in case they need to order it and I woulld have it at our house for pick up at the event.

Hmmm., i bet I could fit 6 bags in my car! Now you just need to presell 34 more! 40 bags are in a ton;)

My silkie chicks found the garden today while I was gone and ate a bunch of tomatoes and all my grapes... ARGH!

I think its time to downsize myself. I have at least 10 that need to go 5 of which are roos... Roos are some BCM and some a breed I can't quite figure out. Hens some Dels, and the matching hens to the Roos I don't know what they are... any ideas??

Ginny--Mr. Big was very tasty. Cant wait to have the others! I cooked up the organs and gave them to the terrorists. The sexlinks and some of the others ran around with the hearts, ripping it from each other and eating the pieces. I guess you could say its poetic justice!

We've been paying $12.60 a bag of Nutrena layer pellets. I think for the Nutrena chick feed it was 14 and change.
The feed mill's mash it was 9 or 10 $.
Tab, if you are talking about Wilkinsons, I was there last week. Prices are up, 16% layer is now $11.50 and 21% chicks starter is $13.50. I buy the chick starter for my Marans, but I am downsizinng them, so am going to just get a few bags for them, and feed the 16% to the rest....too many chickens, and I have a lot of started chicks I need to sell before fall....aarrgghhh...

Still way better than me...15.50$ layer pellets blue seal and 19$ chick starter

I feed my crew Flock Raiser with oyster shell free choice on the side. It does leave powder in the bottom of the bowl, but I've discovered that wetting down the powder and making what amounts to chicken porridge apparently makes it All New Food, as they go bananas for it. I figure, hey, whatever floats their boat.

Boy you must be rich if your chicken have a boat. Mine are lucky they have a coop and a yard.
